i just built a new ls/vtec for my car and its SLOW!
my computer is throwing a knock sensor code becuase i dont have one on the new block.
my car is a 1988 honda civic sedan. OBD0 ecu
what is a easy way to chip my ecu or where can i get it programed to eliminate the knock sensor completly
the fastest my car;s ran is 15.9 and for what i have done to the motor, it should be faster

I'm sure the CEL your throwing has some to do with the issue. Someone else will have to enlighten you on that. Also, what transmission are you using? If it's an ls tranny, that can also be a factor. I think, someone correct me if I'm wrong, an ls tranny has longer gearing. What that means is, when you rev through the gears into VTEC, when you go to shift to your next gear, you fall out of the VTEC range. Slowing you down. I believe you can bolt up an Si or Type R tranny to it and since those 2 transmission have closer gearing, you should pick up some time. Hopefully someone will verify this since I'm not an expert on ls/vtec engines.

No knock sensor on an ECU that is looking for a knock sensor would make your car run in limp mode. That means your car is running pig rich flooding out the engine and taking your air/fuel ratios way off.honda_kid2;132989 wrote:i just built a new ls/vtec for my car and its SLOW!

except he has a cable trans chassis. i doubt he will convet it. you do need a better trans. secondly, yes without the knock the ecu will pull timing without the info from the ks. what is this u have done to this lsv?SweetEBPSi;133021 wrote:I'm sure the CEL your throwing has some to do with the issue. more info on the set up? pistons, cams, etc?
a "stock" ls/vtec doesnt have high enough compression to be 'fast' n/a...
and for cable transmission cars, your options are a cable b16 transmission, a GR YS1 from a 92-93 GSR, or using an LS YS1 and rebuilding it with gears from a hydro transmission
