Okay so at work the other day a coworker and I were talking about emissions BS and he mentioned that the computer gets the VIN off of the ECU, well what would you do if you have a different ECU??? I did a mini-me swap and have a Y8 ECU, what should/can I do? Thanks.

best bet is to find someone that can hook you up and slip them a 50 under the table.

the computer will probably not pull the vin off of your ecu. the only cars that actually give vins to the emissions computer are mostly cars made after 2004ish, some are the exception. but if you brought your car to me then i could make sure you passed, as long as this is the only issue at hand. PM me if need be.

The inspection machine pulls the vin from the ecu.
But at my work we just scan the bar code on the sticker in the drivers side door well.
With the new inspection system everything is online. so if we pull the vin info from the ecu. We alsoi take a digital picture of the vin plaque on the dash. it will come up on our comp to whoever that vin was last registered to. If it doesnt match we check the vin on the car and change the vin and driver info in the comp. We dont fail people for it being mismatched like that though.

And this is exactly why my mom's car is in my name. No emissions in Lincoln County.
Ribs. I had ribs for lunch, that's why I'm doing this.
