car running like ass
about a week ago my car started idling at 3500-4k. it used to start on 2 and drop down to 1 after 2 minutes of driving. i assumed it was a headgasket cause i had coolant in my oil and it was smoking white so im in the process of changing that. i wanna know what ecu i should be running and what i can do to make the car run better. the car has a pr3 ecu(im clueless with electrical problems btw). it was running extremely rich and wont always hit vtec. the car only starts pulling hard in vtec past 7k rpms. does anyone have any suggestions to fix this?thanks.

well to figure out whats exactly wrong with your car we need the fooloing: and please be detailed and percise in your descriptions because remeber none of use know what you have or how it was installed.
Car?
Motor?
If its not stock who did the work?
If not a stock motor and its a swap how is vtec wired up if you have vtec?
i am guessing you have a 91 civic/crx DX witha b16 swap and are running pr3 ecu from your screen name and problem desription. If the car is idleing high it could be from low coolant, or the fast idle valve is out of adjustment (easy fixes). If you have a b16 swapped 91 civic/crx you should be running either a PW0 (jdm OBD0b16 b16 vtec ecu) or a PR3 (jdm OBD0 b16 sirII vtec ecu), now depeding on who did the swap will depend on how your vtec is wired up. Also if you tech is not engaging correctly you need to make sure you don't have any engine codes, and then dbl check wiring.
let us know some more info and we can see what we can do for you

i changed all the gaskets on the motor and put in a new AICV. what could cause this? motor ran fine for a solid 6 months then starts pullin this bs?i have no adpater for the thermostat(there is nothing to connect from the wiring harness), which in turn makes the car run kinda rich(not too bad), could this relate to it?
plz more help i need this b running before i gotta go to school. i can ride my bike to work but not down to springfield!!

1. Check if your ECU is throwing any codes. The LED is in the ECU. Pull your carpet back on the passenger side and turn the key on. If any codes, let us know what they are.
2. To verify it is NOT the FITV, take off your air inlet pipe. Block off one of the 2 holes in the inside of the TB with your finger while the car is running. If it idles nice when blocking the lower hole, the FITV probably came unscrewed inside and needs to be disassembled. If blocking the upper hole makes it idle right, that has to do with the IACV.
check those 2 and get back to us.

Check for vaccum leaks, my car ran 3500 to 4k when it blew the intake manifold gasket.

If you don't want help getting it fixed, that's fine. If you do, you need to do some of the stuff we've told you to instead of questioning it...
If you read what I wrote, more than likely you idle will stabilize. Then, you'll know where to go instead of just ASSuming like it appears you have been. Why do I say this? You've replaced all the gaskets and the problem still exists..... Need I say more?
