H22A4 w/ 92 h23 transmission

Post by Sparky65 »

Does anyone know what I will have to do to run an H23 OBDI transmission out of a 92 in and H22A4 engine? I need to keep it OBDII if possible.

If its a manual do what hardcore said. If its auto, I don't think it's possible, but could be wrong.

Well I will give you guys the whole story. We have an auto 98 5th gen base Prelude that obviously has the H22A4 in it with the crappy auto w/ slap shift and the shift solenoid is bad. Plus there is a huge issue with the title and the previous title holder being and jail and all that. So we were going to part out the car and build it into a racecar (we race at the dirt track off I-55 in Pevely). Anyways, we have a 4th gen manual Prelude we raced up until it blew up last season and we haven't had much luck this season. What we were wanting to do is pull the transmission from the 4th gen and put it in the 5th gen and Im not sure how the wiring will work since its OBI to OBDII.

If its the m2f4 tranny out of the 4th gen you should be fine.

You are gonna need new axles though and a 5spd. Cluster. And mod the ecu. http://honda-tech.com/showthread.php?t=1275452
It's a lot of parts swapping from another bb6. Better off parting it out and buying a 5 speed if your gonna race it.

Or just drop the h22 into the 4th gen and mod the ecu.

Were running an after market tach so we wont even have a cluster, and we can just use the axles from the fourth gen, right? I know base model fifth gen and fourth gens have similar suspension setups.

Modding the ECU wont be hard, we were already going to chip it.

I'm not sure on the 4G axles. All I know is auto to 5spd swap for the 5g.
