Alright, so as I said in my intro thread, the transmission in the civic died after one week of owning the car. Picked up a used trans from the junkyard, but all the guy could tell me was it came off a 1995 civic (was already pulled).
The car shifts and drives perfect with the new trans, however I noticed the speedo seemed off. Paced my dad and the speedo is off by like 3-4mph. Also noticed that the car feels slower. Like it doesn't have any real pull after 4500 like it used too.
So wondering maybe if there are different automatic transmissions for 95's or did each model have the same? Maybe different gears? Other opinions?
Thanks!
~Joe

I would think that an EX would have a slightly sportier transmission than the other models... I know they do for the manual transmissions
This post comes with a guarantee: I guarantee that I don't care what you think about it.

I would imagine with the different gear ratios it would have different speedo gears. I would suggest getting the VSS from the car you got the tranny from, and maybe that would help.Spork;197644 wrote:I would think that an EX would have a slightly sportier transmission than the other models... Speedometers being a few MPH off are pretty common on these cars. Are you sure the right size tires are on the car?
As for the transmissions being different, I've never seen that comfirmed. When I was messing around with auto transmissions, I did notice a difference in the RPM where the EX auto trans shifted compared to where the DX auto trans shifted. But I also changed ECUs and engines at the same time, so I couldn't really confirm that the transmission was the difference.

That is another thing. Just driving in D4, the highest it will goto (foot to the floor) is 6000rpms. Only drove the car for about a week before the trans died, but I remember it shifting at like 6500-7000 before.
