Acura RSX Auto transmission makes a loud popping noise

My transmission makes a loud popping noise when i put it into reverse, but only does this 50% of the time. IT's a 2003 base rsx with 88,000 miles. Any help will be appreciated.

Is the check engine light on?

Have you changed the tranny fluid(or just checked that it is in there)

The check engine light is not on, and i had the transmission fluid flushed at 80,000 miles. My SRS light has always been on, but from what i have read it seems that is common for these cars, and it has to do with the airbags anyway. the noise kind off sounds like smacking a spray paint can with a screw driver.....kind off a tin sound to it. and it occurs right as the transmission shifts to reverse. it also pops as i shift back to drive, but this pop is much softer.

what year is your MDX? I hope nothing is going wrong. it doesn't seem like it because the transmission shifts fine.

Hey everyone. I finally figured out what that popping noise was. I changed out both of my cv joint halfshafts and apparently the movement on the bad ones was causing the popping noise which i thought was from the transmission.
