Auto to manual swap?

Post by gsrauto98 »

Ok so I am buying a b16 hydro transmission and going to get rid of the automatic. I was reading on honda-tech and several people have just done this swap over a weekend, but it seems like a lot of work. I was wondering if anybody has done this on here or knows how to do this and knows what parts will be needed? If so I am looking for help to do this in a couple weeks.

-Transmission
-Manual ECU
-Passenger Side Torque Mount
-Rear Motor Mount Bracket
-Flywheel and Bolts
-Flywheel Cover
-Clutch Kit with Pressure Plate Bolts
-Slave Cylinder
-Hydro Clutch Hard and Soft Line
-Clutch Master Cylinder
-Clutch Master Cylinder Reservior with Soft Line
-Complete Pedal Assembly
-Throttle Cable
-Shift Linkage with "Bitch Pin" and Bushings
-Shifter with Knob and Boot
-14 gauge Wiring
-Misc. Bolts and Nuts
-Maybe a Passenger Side Motor Mount. I don't know how the mounts are designed on 96-00 Civics.

This is just what I can think of off the top of my head. Honestly, I went through this last year and found it was easier to just buy a 5 speed car then to convert it to a manual.

Thanks for the list of parts, and i got most of the stuff, all i really need is to have some one put it in which i might have found somebody. And it may be easier to just buy a manual car but i cant afford that.

Auto to manual swap?

i went through this as well last year, but honestly i thought it was a relatively stright forward easy swap (some pics here: http://stlhondas.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7055)

of course, i did have the engine out, which makes it easy to get to everything. if you plan to do it yourself, i'd say go for it. there are a lot of people on here that i'm sure could help you out. if you're going to pay somebody to do it, then its probably better to just buy a different car.

Do you have an auto B16 in the car right now? IF so, we may be able to work out a trade....
