tranny/motor swap....halp!

i think boner has got the right answer here. I did the same thing, had a 20 spline clutch disc with a 21 spline input shaft...It doesn't work no matter how hard you try.

spline count should be the same if its a 89 trans and a 98 clutch disc. thats not your problem. you cant use the 89 flywheel with the 98 disc though. youll need to use the 98 flywheel if you got it. basically use all of the 89 clutch flywheel or use all of the 98 clutch and flywheel..

just so you know....

88 = 21 spline, 200mm disc/flywheel
89 = 20 spline, 200mm disc/flywheel
90+ = 20 spline, 212mm disc/flywheel

thanks for the info...im still working on this project and need to pull the tranny back out and solve this once and for all. the 89 flywheel wouldnt even bolt up to the 98 motor so "check" on using the right flywheel. i need to rummage through my shop to figure out if /and what clutchs that i have still and go from there!
