all wrong. they started making the del sol in 1992 and quit making them in 1998. all civics starting in 1992 came with a hydro transmission.delslo;131720 wrote:I have a 94 that has a cable and the didn't start making del sol (which we know is a little civic until 93
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honda_CR-X_del_Sol
wikipedia[/url wrote:The Honda Civic del Sol was a 2-seater targa top convertible manufactured by Honda in the 1990s. Based on the Civic platform, the Del Sol was the successor to the popular Honda CR-X. It debuted in 1992 in Japan and the United Kingdom, and 1993 in the United States.
The Spanish name del sol translates as of the sun, and refers to the car's opening roof. It was not a full convertible, featuring a removable hardtop that stowed in the trunk and a retractable rear window for that "convertible" feel. Trunk space was reduced from 10.5cf to 8.3cf while the targa was stowed.
In many markets the CR-X naming convention was dropped from the del Sol line as it was distinctly different from earlier models, which were hatchbacks and not targas. Starting with the 1995 models, Honda dropped the 'Civic' name from the del Sol in the Americas.
Production and sales ended with the 1997 model in the U.S. and 1998 elsewhere, with a total of slightly fewer than 75,000 models sold in America.

Hydro or cable transmission???
It was just brought to my attention that this tranny wont work with a B series by N2HIFI. Is it true that this tranny is in fact for a d series?

Hydro or cable transmission???
That IS a d-series transmission... the Del Sol VTEC was the model with the b16, not the Si.
for B-series they made cable transmissions up to 1993, BUT they made two versions. In 1992, along with switching to obd1, honda upgraded the transmissions and changed the input shafts (d-series and JDM b-series civics switched to hydro in 92 because they introduced a new bodystyle). They kept producing the integras with cable transmissions (since they did not change the bodystyle until 1994 when they switched to hydro), but the internals and clutches are different and not compatible with the pre-92 b-series transmissions.
So in your search, if you are looking for a cable transmission, it will also be important to note what year the transmission is from (pre92, or 92-93) so that you know what clutch you need
and while the del sol was technically introduced in 1992, it didn't get to the states until 1993
