URGENT!!! My DD taking a shit on me!

Post by Blue Wolf »

When I start my car after it's been sitting for a while the clutch pedal is waaaaaay too soft and has almost no resistance. It doesn't even start to disengage the clutch until maybe an inch off the floor, and just the weight of my foot brings the pedal that far down. That said, it is of course near impossible to get the car into gear. I have been having to force it into 3rd for the past couple days and drive it around a bit and then it shifts fine and the pedal is back to its usual position. It was fine 2 days ago then all of a sudden I was trying to go back home and this shit happened and I was like WTF!?!??! Today it was real bad..I had the car running for 15 minutes hoping that might help, but it didn't, so I drove it around for about 25 minutes before it finally got back to normal. Yesterday I only had to drive around the block. I looked it up on google and someone described the exact same thing that was happening, to a T. Someone had said it was a leak in the brake fluid and to check the resevoirs. Well I checked them and they are full. So I am completely at a loss as to what is happening. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thank you,

Chris

Sounds like you need to bleed your clutch.

+1 kinda

sounds just like what happened to my supra when the slave cylinder went out. not too expensive and not a very long replacement either. i'd check that and bleed the clutch once you're done and see if that fixes it

check for any sort of leakage near the slave cylinder on the tranny and also get up under the dash and look where your clutch pedal is connected to the clutch master cylinder and look for any kind of leakage around that area on the firewall where the master comes through at.

and then try bleeding it.. you gotta do it many times and do it right. if that doesnt fix it then take the next step.

ya, thats where my slave cylinder was leaking is where it comes through the firewall. it was spraying fluid onto the floorboard when the clutch was pushed in.
