Lsd?

Post by getteg »

Question will LSD jsut go right into my GSR tranny with no mods? If mods are needed what needs to be done? Below are pics of what I am hopefully getting in the next few weeks and I just want to make sure there wont be a ton of other things I need to do/get to get this to go in. Any help is appriciated. Also am I going to need that case?

I've heard things about the OBX LSD, and if it works as well as the Quaife it's a steal....
04 Subaru WRX Sport Wagon
95 GMC Suburban (Honda hauler)
94 Del Sol vtec (some boost is better than no boost)
91 Chevy S-10 V-8 (toy, soon to be gone though)
87 Honda 250R (as close to a Type R as I will get)

Just "rebuild" the obx before you put it in. I've never had issues with mine.

ITR / GSR casing should be the same. You may need a shim to get the proper clearance between the casing and the lsd carrier bearings (I was fine re-using the stock one on my ls tranny). I don't know about the ring gear...... 4.4 to 4.4 should work. If its a 4.7x you will need the counter shaft from the 4.7 tranny.

Yep! The OBX units normally have alot of metal shavings, burrs, etc, that needs cleaned up and everything retorqued before install but if gone over properly it should hold up rather well.

So if I got a brand new obx it would need to be rebuilt before I install it, or is that only if I get a used one.

Thanks for the help everyone

yes, but you dont have to. it only takes about 5 minutes though.

transzex has installed over 30 obx lsd's and never fieldstripped them and has never had any complaints.
