Figured that I would put a new clutch and flywheel in when I got the new engine put in the GSR and wanted to know if this looked like a good combo.

I know that EXEDY is a good company for clutches and I have heard of Fidanza but I dont have any experience with them. The flywheel is 7.5lbs so how much lighter than stock is that?

Clutch and Flywheel Question
7.5 is under half the weight of stock. DON'T buy it. it is too light for daily driving and you will end up losing a lot of drivability with it. if you want to go lighter buy an XACT streetlite (12.5lbs) or a type R flywheel(about 15-16 lbs) both would serve you much better for getting around in traffic than that fidanza.

How does the flywheel reduce drivability.

Clutch and Flywheel Question
is that a question or a statement?
less weight means less inertia which means that it won't hold RMPs as well...
less weight means it revs up faster, but that means that it slows down faster too because there is no inertia to keep it spinning. for daily driving you rely on the weight of the flywheel for highway driving and traffic, and in instances where you are engaging the clutch... less weight means you have to more precisely rev match in order to avoid bogging or killing the car... more wieght on the flywheel helps the engine 'push' the clutch around and allows more room for error when driving. this is also the reason that light flywheels are crap for drag racing, no inertia means you can't launch the car as well.
hey, if you wanna drive around like a road racer all day, thats fine. I just prefer a little more refinement in a car that I plan on driving everyday.

Clutch and Flywheel Question
i have the exedy organic stage 1, with a 9lb fidanza in the wrx... i absolutely love it.
the pedal feels lighter than stock, and you really dont notice the flywheel after the first 5 minutes you drive on it. that setups been holding 300+ hp 7000rpm awd launches for 3 years now, hell the stage1 grips hard enough to shred all the teeth off second gear (dont ask how i know). i was a little nervous going from a 23lb flywheel to a 9lb at first, but after i got used to it, i think a 6 or 7 will be next
exedy = topnotch stuff!
i was so impressed, that thats the same setup going in the accord

Clutch and Flywheel Question
12.5 is as light as I would go... i have a streetlite in my basement that I was planning on using, but I think I might get an itr and savor a little more inertia.g3integragsr;96302 wrote:I have a fidanza 12.5 pound flywheel and I love it. Wasnt a huge transistion from stock either
