Today we're really going to look at it so we'll definately try to see where it's coming from and hopefully what it is. I talked to a friend last night after I posted and he mentioned the alternator so I guess we'll check that out. Thanks for the help

Ok so we figured out that the rattling is the heat shield on the cat. Also on the check engine light, it says I am misfiring on every cylinder. We checked my spark plugs and they are fine. We checked my distributor cap, rotor, and plug wires, they all are fine. We think maybe the cat is what is causing my bogging down, but why would it be saying that I'm misfiring?? blaaaah i dont know...

Well, if the cat is actually clogged up, the engine can't breathe. It will have burn exhaust gas existing in the cylinders which would cause a misfire. Also, a clogged fuel filter or weak fuel pump would cause a misfire. Were the plugs white?

K well sunday I'm taking off my cat with some friends to see if it is clogged. I just replaced my fuel filter maybe a month ago so I dont think it's that. But hoping for it to just be the cat...fingers crossed

We just got done taking off my cat, and that isn't the problem. The car is still bogging down and misfiring. So do you think it is something to do with the ignition coil or distributor?? Should I just try to replace the cap and rotor and see if that fixes it or is there something else that might be the problem? The cap, rotor, plugs and wires were all replaced about 15k ago.

Well, typically, if you have an ignition drop issue, your car will backfire out of the tail pipe. If you have a low fuel pressure issue, it can run kind of like you are running out of gas and it will be very doggy. Checking your fuel pressure is probably where I'd start on this one before you throw any parts at it.
