in gear yet out of gear???

ok i broke something i know this i just cant figure out what. i was going from first to second and i wasnt very high in the rpms 6500 max and it free spun. it didnt even try to go into gear. anyway when you start the car it idles at 1200 rpm and sits at 12-14 mph out of gear and clutch out. if u rev the car the rpms and speedo will climb like the car is moving. now if you push the clutch in it will not do this. it will sit at 0 mph. i am lost as all hell on this one so any info will be great thanks.

p.s. it doesnt make much noise at all like anything is floating around broke inside the trans that is to major. also it doesnt grind puting it into gears without using the clutch.

have you checked the axel yet to make sure that its still pushed into the tranny, if you putin a used axel that does not have the retaining clip then it will slip out thus not allowing you to go anywhere

axles are still in. im pulling them out tomarrow and starting to take it all apart since i am off work. i might end up putting the ls trans in so i can sell the car

check the shifter cable... it happened on my last car... u could switch gears all day long but its either stuck in one gear or in nuetral...

Sounds to me like one or both of your axels are not completely seated. Even if it looks like it

maybe a broken differential... if the two counter rotating gears that "connect" the left side of the diff to the right side of the diff are broken, you wont move anywhere... it would still spin the final drive gear and the vss, but wont spin the axles.

No shifter cables in a five speed b16 swapped 5th gen.

we are all thinking stripped axles. instead of working on it tonight i got pissy and got drunk. actually just got home. im starting on it tomarrow then going to a movie sort of as a cool down break then working on it again. the biggest thing that confuses me is the speedo reading a mph when it is out of gear haha
