I like to know what I'm workin with, so I've done 'a little bit' of research on the b-series cable trannies... the best part is, I learned that mine is really the 'best' one as far as rebuild options go 92-93 YS1 (LS).

There I changed my wording,I was a little out of line....Sorry man but that just seemed a little rude,Acted like i have no mechanical skills at all which is not true! I just have never delt with hondas like that, I have rebuilt a Turbo 350 trans from a Monte Carlo and also rebuilt the T-5 5 speed in my old Mustang,so i'm shure the rebuild would be fairly simple, I just wanted to know where to find the #'s on the tranny so i could order parts and such

ok so you have mechanical skills, but not enough skills to see the nice big tag on the front of the transmission that tells you what kind of transmission it is. also if you think that i was rude, you better sell all your honda stuff and get back into whatever else you were doing because you havent seen anything yet.JZO6ETR;41137 wrote:There I changed my wording,I was a little out of line....Sorry man but that just seemed a little rude,Acted like i have no mechanical skills at all which is not true! the bad news is, the 90-91 trannies have the 'old' smaller splined input shaft, so they aren't really compatible with the newer trannies, in 92 honda switched all of their trannies (at least the d and b series ones) over to a larger shaft and continued using it for the remainder of the time they offered the engine lines... great news if you own one, but kinda sucks if you don't.
go to www.gearspeedinc.com and email them for a quote on what you need, 99blackhatch got his carbon coated synchros from them and loves them, and I plan on getting my parts from them if/when it comes time to rebuild mine. just tell them that you have a JDM S1, and note that it is the short geared b16 transmission, not the LS b18 version.
