Clutch Problem...

Post by 90CivicEx »

So got the new clutch in but ran into a huge problem, when you drive the car barely giving it gas it drives perfect but as soon as you lay into it the passneger side starts shaking and makes a poping noise I kinda got the theory the halfshaft may be bent, but that means replaceing the whole assembly which if I do I'm swapping to the integra front brakes seeing as how there a tad bit larger.

If you guys could help in anyway that'd be cool, as for info its a 89 crx si, B16a swap, Sir tranny, and the clutch was the same one my buddy and my brother are use which it has no problems engaging and disengageing it only shakes under acceleration but its uncontrolable.

i would guess that your axle may not be all of the way in......... Is your wheel loose/ not flush on the hub? maybe a loose castle nut or suspension part?

did your car drive fine before you replaced the clutch? if so it has to be something that happened when you changed the clutch

if ti is rythmic, i could possibly be your halfshaft. if it is howling, wheel bearing, is your axle all the way back in???? the popping sounds like your cv joint, which kinda also points to your halfshaft. i would first off double check everything you took apart(you prolly already did) then start ruling stuff out. jack your car up and secure it with jack stands, put it into gear and start accelerating while someone watches your axles, it will be VERy noticeable if one is bent.

We went back checked and It seems the axles all the way in and if not then it won't go all the way back in cause htere is a slight space between it and the spot it goes in. The car before I replaced the clutch would only wobble slight but nothing harsh at around 75, when accelerating with the old clutch it had a slight wabble but nothing outta control. I did the standerd check they made us do at the auto places to check wheel bearings and it seems to be ok. When we put the new clutch in we took the passenger side cv out and left the assembly sitting but the passenger side we had to take the whole assembly off and set it to the side. Car runs and drives great all until you push more throttle and try to gain a tad more speed.

Fix to most of the problem now is taking the suspension from my foor door and putting it on the rex this will include: Hub assembly, brake calipers, rotors, pads, spring and strut, and upper ball joints. Problem is the passenger side you can't get the cv from the hub, me and Cale tried and we almost picked the car up trying to break it loose. It sat for 3 days with penitrating oil on both and one came loose fine and the passenger side seems to be like its welded on.
