Spark Plug Issues

Post by iStick »

[FONT="Georgia"]Ok so I changed out my spark plugs and wires yesterday & whenever I drive after about 30 minutes my car starts to run hot & smoke, when I look under the hood I find 3 out of my 4 wires popped up.. .so I push them back down and the car runs fine but it keeps happening can anyone tell me why this might be??

Pressure getting by the plugs. You could have cross threaded the spark plugs so they seem tight but arent sealing or thy could just be loose.

Its when you screw in a threaded bolt(or spark plug) with the threads misaligned with the nut(or the head in this example) causing the bolt to cut new threads. Usually it damages both pieces.

Pistons 1 3 & 4 are the only ones popping up, piston 2 is fine. But piston 1 pops the hardest, when I tried taking the plug out the bottom piece got stuck in the head.. .

When I pulled the plug out the part that goes around the actual spark plug was still in the head.. .but after I let the car cool down I pushed it back in then pulled it back out and it was attached again..

It was the rubber piece on the bottom that had pulled off.

Actually, that sparkplug pulled my socket off of the extension too lol

I went over there and checked them. #4 was a little loose. I pulled all of the sparkplugs and tightened them back down, checked firing order. Pulled each plug while the car was running etc etc.

Then I noticed the map sensor wiring.....

And taped it all up. The car isn't stumbling at idle like it was, it's still idling low. And I'd probably say that replacing the radiator might help the overheating ;)

*&%$# it's hot outside today!
