need tranny codes
im looking to buy an si tranny from budget crx. but all the d series tranny codes start with p20. i have a vx tranny now and dont want to get stiffed with another. so i was curious where the code is on the tranny and what the code is for an ex/si. i looked for a goos website and cant find one. looking for any help.

If the trans code is the same, there is no way to tell the difference besides cracking the case apart and counting.

thats a hard one, usually have to open the case and start counting teeth on the gears. unless it has the vin number on it...stlmadpanda;6077 wrote:im looking to buy an si tranny from budget crx. but all the d series tranny codes start with p20. i have a vx tranny now and dont want to get stiffed with another. so i was curious where the code is on the tranny and what the code is for an ex/si. i looked for a goos website and cant find one. looking for any help.

wouldnt be that hard to just open the case and count the teeth on the final drive. im sure jake is telling the truth but in any case i have learned to be careful with trannys. i had a nice one and sold it cause i didnt know what it was...

Budget isn't the type of person who would lie about a part. You should have nothing to worry about. There is a way to tell the difference between an EX/Si and the other transmissions by looking at the serial number after P20 IIRC. Let me look though.stlmadpanda;6077 wrote:im looking to buy an si tranny from budget crx. but all the d series tranny codes start with p20. i have a vx tranny now and dont want to get stiffed with another. so i was curious where the code is on the tranny and what the code is for an ex/si. i looked for a goos website and cant find one. looking for any help.

Ok found it. EX/Si transmissions will say P20B with serveral numbers following it and all other 5th gen transmissions with say P20A followed by serveral numbers. The only difference between EX transmissions and Si transmission is 5th gear.
