coolant issues with an f22

Post by thewagoneer »

my 97 wagon is having coolant issues it goes thru almost a gallon of coolant in 450 miles but it docent have a bad head gasket it has a brand new radiator the water pump and thermostat are working properly so im at a loss to why its lossing so much coolant and i run a 50/50 mix in it. The only leak i found was what looks like a vacuum line that goes to the bottom of the throttle body the rubber hose that connects it was dry rot but it had to have started leaking in the past 2 days i dont see how you can lose over half your coolant from that, especially since it was such a small issue. if you could give me some ideas it would be greatly appreciated.

What's your oil look like? Are you sure you have the HG installed correctly? Is your radiator cap good?

There are coolant lines on the bottom of the trottlebody on a F22 if they are dry rotting that might be your leak.

the oil is clean no milky look to it. do you think it could have pushed almost a gallon and 1/2 thru it in 2 days?

you will learn really quick, chris, that if something can go wrong, on a honda, it will. Replace all your coolant lines. Especially the ones around your fitv. If those get too bad, you'll have an idle issue.

They deal with your FITV (Fast idle thermal valve) that affects your idle before the car is up to operating temp.
