Help 98 sh lude obd1 swap misfire

Post by overboost7845 »

I put a obd1 engine in my 98sh prelude i used the original obd2 ecu and wired the oil pump to the obd1 dis it runs fine and does not have check engine light on. i also used the fuel injectors from the obd2 engine. but it wont pass emissions because of the monitors not being ready and the freeze frame data shows misfire codes for all cylinders and random misfire. Is there anyway to get around this problem? Can i get the misfire codes to go away with the obd1 dis on the obd2 ecu?

Are you sure your distributor is good?

i didn't check it i really just assumed it was fine since the car seemed to be running just fine until i took it to emissions testing. Unfortunately i don't believe i have a knowingly good dis around. Has anyone ever wired a obd1 dis in a obd2 car and not had any problems with emissions? Because I just keep coming back to the obd1 dis in the obd2 car/ecu possibly being an issue.

i swapped the distributor, ignition coil, fuel pressure regulator, checked compression, valve adjustment, new plugs, wires. everything checks out. i have come to the conclusion that I have a bad ecu.
