Need HELP. Valve Adjustment.

Post by honduhej1 »

Okay, so i was in the process of replacing my head gasket (93 integra) and i removed all of the rockers because they were just falling from moving the head around on the work bench. i put the rockers back in with the cams and have put the timing belt back on, all on tdc... i was told that im going to need to do an adjustment now that i have removed all of the rockers, and that the valves would need to be adjusted properlly. So i dont have feeler gauges, or the knowledge on how to do a job like this. I have learned alot by working on this car, but need some knowleged and guidence on this matter.

So the help i need is either an extremely detailed diy on how to do this, or if someone is willing to help me out, i can supply beer and a little bit of money or food. if anyone happens to have the free time, let me know im available most nights and wednesday days along with weekend days. here is my number and let me know. 636-614-9732

thanks,

Andy.

This is actually extremely easy to do, just get you a set of feeler guages, a 12mm wrench and a flathead.

Take off the valve cover.
Remove sparkplugs.
Set cylinder 1 to TDC.

For this part you need to double check but iirc it was .003-.005 for the intake side. The exhaust was .006-.008. (that's for a B18) You take the feeler gauge and slide it between the lobe and the lifter and it should slide in, not grab too much but not be loose. Use either a wrench and flathead or you can buy a tool to do this. Once you adjust it, tighten the nut back down and recheck the gaps. Sometimes they turn when you tighten the nut. You have to do each cynlinder seperatly at TDC.

I don't think I missed anything on this (I'm trying to answer phones and post so forgive me) You could probably check with JUSTROB or N2hifi for some help. Remember to check the specs for whatever motor you have.
