new motor build?

Post by 96eg2 »

I just rebuilt my motor its a b16a je pistons .20 over with eagle h beam rods and arp head studs the compression is at 10.5:1. I also have a 4 to 1 header and a short ram intake on it. Ive been reading that what i have done now will increase the power with a tune is that true.

Which pistons? The b16a from J-land has 10.4:1 compression, so not looking at much of a increase really. Also, honda sells a oversized piston kit thats .5 mm larger than oe. So, really not looking at a crazy increase. You probably have a crappy header, so not much of a gain there either.

You kept the compression ratio just about the same. It was 10.49:1, it's currently 10.48:1. The aftermarket intake and exhaust manifold may give you a bit of power but nothing that you're going to notice, even with a tune.

U need some race cams and u will feel a diff. I have a b16a with skunk2 intake and cams and its not really that much faster than a regular b16 but i also need to tune

10 to 12 psi will be safe as a dd with a good tune.. DO NOT DRIVE IT TURBO WITHOUT A TUNE

You don't need any cylinder head work. You didn't even need to add forged internals for under 300 whp. I had a similar setup (Crower rods, JE pistons, ARP's) a few years ago that I drove daily with a 56mm T3/T4 turbo and 14.5 psi. I wouldn't do anything less then that.

Depends on the turbo, the fuel, the hotspots in the combustion chamber (did you knock the edges down?), etc.

You'll just have to get on a dyno and see how much pressure and/or timing you can run before you detonate.
