vtec troubles???

Post by lurch95hatch »

hey i just recently did a gsr swap into my 95 hatch, got the vtec jumper harness from rywire. pinned it into the ecu and hooked it up just like the instructions and still no vtec. im hoping that someone might have a resolution for this or at least have someone who can help me figure it out. ANY help is VERY much appreciated.

Which code is the ECU setting? 21 or 22 or both? Any other codes?

There is no need for a special scanner. You just need to short the SCS connector. It's very easy. Just follow the instructions in the link below and post back with which codes you have.

itll work either way. im using rywire and i just have 2 wires near the ecu. u may have a plug with two wires. either way jump the two wires by putting a paper clip in the slots of the plug or twisting the lose wires together. youll turn key to ignition and count the blinks from the cel. cel means check engine light if u didnt know. long flashes mean first digit and fast flashes mean second. ie: long short short short =13

Every '95 Honda Civic has a check engine light. Do you mean there is no bulb in the gauge cluster for the check engine light?

@JustRob & 91beatuphatch-thanks for the help i will try this weekend

@06sik20z3-im running the dc2 5 speed P72

And again @JustRob i typed without a full thought about the CEL, i ment to say if its on or off. i havnt hat the CEL on since i did the swap. i just didnt know if i would still pull codes without the CEL already being on.

@N2HIFI-no thats not the one im running, i have the regular b-series one. before the swap we did a bypass on the IAB to eliminate the IAB all together.

its all a huge cluster fuck because the friend that was "helping" me was doing this for the first time on his own, he had done 3 or 4 with his friends back home and told me it was an easy swap. for the most part it was untill all the electrical issues.
