it depends on what you order it for. if you order for something like a d15b7, you get this:

Both are Felpro gaskets. Felpro offers two different style head gaskets for '88-'00 SOHC Civics. One with a steel core and graphite face, the first one you posted. And the MLS gasket, the second one you posted.

I've used Felpro MLS head gaskets on my turbo B16A and I'm currently using one on my Vitara D16Y. Neither have given me any issues whatsoever. Like everyone said, user error.
