91 turbo crx motor break in
hi, im new to the site but i have some questions that have really been bothering me about my car. Ive been working on my car for about a year and a half now and just got the car running. I have a SOHC Zc non vtec with the vitera pistons, eagle h beam rods, hastings 75mm rings, acl race bearings, block guard, arp headstuds, bisimoto 75mm headgasket, bisimoto Pro titanium retainers and springs, supertec titanium nitride valves, stock cam, adjustable cam gear. now my main concern is that im breaking my motor in with my turbo on (7psi t3t4) and i now have 250 miles on the motor and i have not even once Layed into it to build any amount of boost in fear of my motor running too lean and causing damage, i have stock injectors and stock si pm6 ecu. will i be "OK" to drive my car around to continue breaking my motor in or do you think that i shouldnt be driving it and that it should sit until i come up with more money for my "more fuel situation" which really thats not much of an option. but i really need someones opinion on this because i am not looking to do something that would eventually mess sh*t up with my car ive waited way to long without my car just to have something happen to it.

Stop driving the car until you get a proper fuel system. Then immediately take it to get tuned. Or take the turbo kit off and continue to drive the car. You'll want to lay into it once you do either of those.
I'm running a similar setup without a turbo currently. I ran it about 20 miles before taking it through the whole RPM range with oil changes every 250 miles until 1,000 miles. I have 4,5XX miles on it now and it runs great without any issues.

the only thing thats gonna cause you issues is driving the thing with no fuel management. just pop the charge piping and put a filter on until its broke in and you can get it tuned!91blkrex;262542 wrote:you think i could run into issues?

you will damage the engine!
its simple, disconnect the charge pipe and drive it n/a or dont drive it at all, its the only way you will keep from destroying the engine!

Be careful driving the car with the charge pipe disconnected as you could damage the turbocharger.

Rob is very knowledgeable, Brandon. From what he's said i'd take his advice. He has experience with boosted cars.
