First start on fresh rebuild

Post by horn12007 »

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Alright first off I'm going to assume that the first start is always the most difficult start of a fresh rebuilt motor.
Anyways my lsvtec is complete other than the first start. It is boosted and has 440 injectors so on my hondata I went with the closest set up for a base map. Just put brand new plugs in it. It is getting spark and fuel.....its so damn close to starting. Its trying to run, but just won't start. It keeps on hitting and is so damn close.
also there are 2 trouble codes water temp and electrical load detected, I don't think they would be giving me any hassle.
Is there a trick on the first start? Sure hope so. lol. or any thing I should look at? any help or input to get my baby running would be greatly appreciated. thanks

o yea it an lsvtec.
so far I think I should double check firing order, timing belt, coolant temp sensor? what else?

you can disable the ELD in hondata.

did you just pick one of the maps that came with hondata? you probably need a better basemap.

the first start should start right up.

check your cam timing and firing order

yea I just picked one of the hondata base maps. I'm new to tuners and hondata so I may ask some dumb questions.
For a better basemap do I need to go somewhere or just try a few different ones?

Firing order is fine. and yea I need to double check cam timing. I double checked that when putting the timing belt on.....but you know how that goes so I will check again.

are you geting spark? are your plugs wet with fuel? if its kicking trying to start try holding the throttle open all the way and cranking it if it starts you have to much base fuel vice versa spray a lill eather and see if it starts to little fuel
turbo lag psh? boost is only a down shift away

you would get the basemap from your tuner.

dam boosted I just sent you a pm as you were responding to this.

yea man I'm from the deep south (very bottom tip of st. clair county) and there is noone around here. I just need to fix that engine coolant temp code. I put different ect sensor in there and ran the wires straight to my ecu and still getting the code. I think thats throwing too much fuel in there because when I am trying to start the car my air fuel gauge goes all the way to the rich side.

probably should have just stayed with my ancient zdyne.

I didn't have any time at all to work on my car this weekend. I do think that my cam timing is a bit off. I need to set my adjustable cam gears to 0 and go from there.
I kinda screwed up and jumped into hondas without knowing anything about them so I'm still learning.
I'm positive i'm getting spark and fuel.....it tried to run. I made my own conversion for the dizzy.
