If you don't like people giving you sound advice (like learning about your car), then you need to just give up on cars right now. Seriously, get the sand out of your vag and take the mans suggestion, it's never a bad idea to learn about your car and what can/will go wrong with it and how to fix it. If you can't take the criticism, then you're in the wrong hobby

can we get back on topic please, i asked a question about my car, not about what i do or dont know, if i wanted critisizm i would have asked for all of your opinions on the matter, i have tried to learn as much as i can, i miss a few things, i feel that i know more then the average guy, i have stayed away from wiring and ecu's though for as long as i could, i know that reading codes is pretty simple, does the motor have to be running?

Hmmmmmmmm(in a confusing tone of voice not a angry one) But I guess i have been doing it wrong because in my ef I have a p28 running a z6 and my codes pop out on the dash. Well they used to untill i took it apart for wire tuck LOL. But I guess thats because i have a obd1 conversion so with that being said. Im not up on obd0 Ecu's but OBD0 ecus are read on top of ecu.N2HIFI;256554 wrote:it's a obd0 car and should be running on a pw0 or pr3 ( possibly something else but still OBD0)
and NO i wasnt being sarcastic... learning how to read codes should be one of the first things you should learn when it comes to basic car repair/trouble shooting... and that goes FOR anybody not just justin
Im going to but out of this Convo now because i have NO Idea what im talking about when i comes to OBD0(that was not said with any sarcasum it was simply stated as truth) Now back to the thread.

you only need to turn the key to the run position and look at the window on top of the ecu. if you can get your hands on an other mpfi obd0 ecu plug it in and see if it fixes the problem. other than that my guess would be either the map sensor or tps. maybe even a bad coil or ignitor.Liquor Assassin;256579 wrote:can we get back on topic please, i asked a question about my car, not about what i do or dont know, if i wanted critisizm i would have asked for all of your opinions on the matter, i have tried to learn as much as i can, i miss a few things, i feel that i know more then the average guy, i have stayed away from wiring and ecu's though for as long as i could, i know that reading codes is pretty simple, does the motor have to be running?
