crazy motor issues

Post by Liquor Assassin »

bout a month ago i started my car without issue and let it warm up... when i came back out it was idling at 200rpm, not 2000rpm, two hundred rpm, when i tried to rev it up it took 10-15 seconds for it to reach 5k, i checked the fuel pressure guage and it still reads 40 psi, after i tried to turn it off and back on it would try to start but die immediately... that was a month ago... just now i released the fuel pressure and tried starting it again and it started but still does the low idle + sloth rev PLEASE HELP

have you looked into any of the things that were mentioned to you in the shoutbox earlier today? if not, check them out and then report back with your findings. if you have checked them out, what were your findings?

ps. for more help on your issue, you may want to mention what kind of car it is, what kind of engine, any mods to it, is the car throwing any engine codes, etc.
the more information you can provide the more others can help you.

i asked you how to check the main relay, and i forgot what the other thing was, i took the cat off and it still does this, as for the car its an 89 civic hatch with a 94 gsr motor swap, b16 si trans, not sure of the year, no mods besides intake, as for codes, no check engine light but i dont know if it even works

The main relay in that car should be up under the panel where your knees go while driving. That or in the kick panel to the left of that.

Does your check engine light turn on, then off when you go to start your car?

Do you hear the fuel pump prime when you turn the key on?

If no to either of these, the main relay could be bad.

If yes to both of these, your distributor could be bad.

the CEL light is built into the ecu on obd0 cars (seriously learn a little bit about your car)

-pull carpet on pass floorboard back
-locate hole on ecu cover
-turn ign on
-look through hole on ecu cover
-blinking light? yes count the flashes and refer to the ecu code list in the tech section of the site
-no blinking light no codes

not going to be fuel related, probley needs a tune up OR the map sensor came unplugged.. probley the problem

what ecu are you running with a 94 gsr motor it should be an obd1 ecu like a p72 or p28? then you wouldnt have to read the codes on the ecu you would read it on the cluster by grounding out D4 pin to ground.

But I think N2HI was being sarcastic

it's a obd0 car and should be running on a pw0 or pr3 ( possibly something else but still OBD0)

and NO i wasnt being sarcastic... learning how to read codes should be one of the first things you should learn when it comes to basic car repair/trouble shooting... and that goes FOR anybody not just justin
