HELP!!! bouncing tach!!!

I have a h22a and for some reason wen it idles it bounces between 500 and 1500......and between 1000-2500 wen its cold...any idea wat it could be and how to get rid of it....its really bad and its driving me nuts. i was figuring maybe it was the map sensor??? any opinions?????

Why would you guess it's the MAP sensor? Any trouble codes?

so your tach is just bouncing around or your actual engine rpms are going up and down? if your tach is bouncing around, its probably a bad ignitor. if its rpms going up and down it could be a number of different things.

Mines actually revving got any ideas?

yeah mines is actually revving between 500-1500 rpms wen at idle

actuallly.......i had the hood up....and i did hear a hissing noise from somewhere....

your not always going to hear it takes some arosol starting fluid and spray it around the intake and if the idle on your car seems to smooth out then you have a leak
