No Boost/very slow revving

Post by Kolk1 »

If its an internal wastegate, make sure the rod didnt pop off the side. Happened to me once. Drove normal, but no power, and took forever to even hit 1lb.

Edit: Nevermind, that wouldnt cause it to rev slow.

Nope it has an external wastegate. Still havent solved the problem, taking it to a buddy of mine to see if we can find the culprit. Its not really a big deal not having the car during winter being that I wouldnt drive it anyways but hopefully shes ready for spring! When i started it yesterday at first it ran somewhat rough, and i heard a little buzz/chatter from the back left side of the head, by the distributer. Im wondering if i maybe blew a head gasket. I wonder that because I have also been burning through more coolant than usual.

Dang, that would suck, but is also possible. I wouldn't start the motor anymore, I'd tear the head off and look at whats up.

Make sure your timing (mechanical and electrical) are where they are supposed to be.

Alright thanks guy. I know how to check mechanical timing for a SOHC motor..is it the same for a DOHC? Also, how would the timing have gotten off? I drove it 30 min away to columbia MO, let it sit for an hour, then got back in it and it seemed like a totally different car. Hmmmmmmmmm

Were just throwing ideas out there man. The tensioner could have loosened up at anytime. Yes, the process is similiar. TDC, check the crank pulley for the marks, and the marks on the cams should line up.

yeah im with these guys incorect cam timing would cause all of your problems low vaccume, no throttle response and in turn no boost
i would check timing and see where your at before you start tearing the head off it will take you 20 min
turbo lag psh? boost is only a down shift away
