Smells like gas!

What would cause oil to smell like fuel? Please tell me it can be from running rich. I have heard that if you don't drive your car long enough(don't let it get warm) that the oil might smell like gas.

It's the civic.Stock JDM B16A2 should have around 40xxx on it, no CEL,

Just a FYI. Gas will wash out the bearings very fast so I wouldn't drive it if you can keep from it. Sounds like you might need to check the compression

There is nothing wrong at all with this car, the motor is completely sound I should know I helped put it in and the car has ran perfect since. It had a rich smell only because the jdm p30 ecu and that's it.

Thats what I'm saying! The motor runs great, doesn't smoke at all, doesn't leak or loose oil. It is a bit louder than other Honda motors I have had(it knocks a little louder) That could be due to the fact that I don't have the noise from the A/C and power steering pullies running. Just from the way the car idles at 2k on start up, and it takes longer to warm up, I can tell it runs rich. I don't know the car all that well yet though. I fugure as long as the oil looks ok, it should be good until I can get it tuned or get a different ecu.

my ej1 idles high on cold start up, and oil has gas hint to it. never ran funny. most cars will have a slight gas smell in the oil. oh and im coreys roomate hes out of town.
