Just wondering??

Post by lagwagon21 »

I just put some Royal Purple in my hatch and I put a turbo muffler on too, I took off a no name round tuner style muffler because it was retarded loud. Question is this, would changing the muffler make the car slower? It feels a bit slower than before, but I didn't think it would make a noticeable difference.

In theory there could be a WHP difference, but i dont think it would be big enough to feel.. it prolly felt faster because it was that much louder

here's how it is ACTUALLY...depending on ur exhaust system u loose a certain amount of backpressure...but the thing is backpressure is the compression releaved from ur cylinders everytime ur exhaust valves r opened...back pressure also helps close those valves before u loose too much compression in ur cylinders...here it is...if ur exhaust system is too big u loose too much backpressure or aka compression in ur cylinders there for ur motor is not performing as it should...so yes changing ur muffler can indeed indirectly effect how ur motor performs...
