y8 mani swap

Post by 91beatuphatch »

okay so i did a y8 manifold swap on my z6 and if you know anything about these the y8 doesnt have a intake air temp sensor on the manifold iits in the air box. i added one into the plenum.

my question is... does it matter on location of that sensor. every other honda intake manifold has it mounted in one of the runners. will it matter where i put mine?

I would try to get it kinda close to the TB. I dont think position is that critical.

If you look at all the others there normally on the second cylinder runner but once again your right I don't see a reason since the air passing is the same you would think since it's all before the injectors anyways.

Mount in position close to where it is on old manifold. When we did y8 manifold swap on my old a6 motor we put it at the end of the plenum which I believe was close to location on the stock manifold and there was room there

Except on the Y8 there isnt a port anywhere, they were put on the intake tube. Rather than drill some holes and mill part of it to mount flat I would think mounting it in the stockish y8 location would work.

well we just drilled a hole and self tapped it in with silicone. its funny cuz it and the evap plugs are the same. you have them plugged in the right way check engine light... you reverse them no check engine light. im lost.

It's much easier if you just use the OBD2 sensor in the intake arm and save yourself the headache of drilling and possible causing a vacuum leak in the future.
