Oil leak?

Got a question hope someone can answer.

When looking at my motor the whole block has oil on it. I pulled the plug wires and there is oil in there too.

Is the valve cover not sealed properly? Or is it something else?

Sounds like the rear main seal, and the valve cover gasket/plug grommets.

So valve cover gasket and plug grommets I get.....what would the rear main seal be?

there is no seal between the transmission and the block. also, if the rear main were leaking, oil would be located under the seal and inside the transmission bellhousing. not all around the block.

best way that i have found to troublshoot on where an oil leak is coming from is to start at the bottom of the engine and work your way up. where the trail of oil stops is where the leak is coming from.

Well then that's the VC gasket.....Cause it starts there and oil is around it.

did you recently switch from "regular oil" to full synthetic? or vice versa

I have had it since Feb and it's pretty much been sitting haven't changed the oil yet. Only drove it like 50 miles from purchase and 35 of that was home
