The pos runs but wont rev past 2800ish!

Post by gsrauto98 »

First off i have a 98 civic with a GSR swap.
So today when i was leaving school, i was pulling out and the car started like bucking for a second and then died. So then i start it again and i make maybe 20-30yds and it does the same thing. I try to start it again and it will not start.
I got it towed to the house and i tried starting it, and it fired up, and then died in like 10 seconds.
So i replace the plugs and wires and it starts for a few seconds and then dies again. So what do you think is the issue?
I now have swapped out the TPS and it runs and idles but wont rev past 2800 or so. WTF?

It has done this a couple times before but i usually just push the clutch in for a seconde and then start driving again and it will be fine.
I started it this morning is idleing pretty shitty and is tumbling a bit.

so...it kinda wants to do the same thing if i dont let it warm up
So i'm thinking the TPS was not the issue. But it does seem ok while driving around and what not.
The last thing i had fooled with before this was the FITV, could that be causing this problem? i wouldnt think so but you never know

Agreed. Had a similar situation happen on two Hondas and its been the dizzy. Even though it may look dry, somehow moisture is probably getting at it.
