my gf has a 89 hatch and im not shure whats up with it but the car is slow as shit its like the car has no power at all. i think its the timing could that make the car run slow if it was off set or could it be the distributer?
the cheak engine light is on also. just wanted to see what you guys think it could be its like it has one big ass miss when she drives it.

first thing to do is find out why the check engine light is on. so go find out what engine code or codes are flashing and then we can start from there.

Finding out why the 'cheak engine light' is on will probably help you out.

no. now go find out what the codes are.

89 is obd0 which means jump the service plug and count how many times the engine light blinks. no reader necessary.
