d16z6 n/a build

Post by ejtuner88 »

I had a z6 built a couple of guys that i would never ask to even change my oil for me. They overtightened the cam gear bolt and the gear ended up rotating on the cam while it was running. Didnt hurt the engine as far as I could tell. As i was taking it apart to fix the problem i notcied that they overtightened the bolts for the rocker assembly as well. And after replacing the cam and gear and putting the timing belt back on the engine wont turn by hand. The crank turns smooth as silk so it has to in the head. The engine does have a set of d16a1 rods and pistons in it and the first cam was a skunk2 stage one cam. Can i salvage what I have or should I just scrap it and buy another engine?

i dont think this is possible
the only way the cam would turn is if the woodruff key was not replaced not if it was overtightened
also the cam gear bolt takes 27ft/lbs which is alot so it would be hard to overtighten
also how could you tell the rocker assy was overtightened? if they broke when putting em on or taking em off that happens alot
now read your first post again and realize it dont make sense
so far behind im ahead of the pack.
