You've still never done the timing belt on that car!? Holy shit.99PreludeSh;222272 wrote:I honestly have no idea the crank pulley has never been off the car. Even the first time the bolt backed itself out the crank stayed put and I didnt see anything wrong.

Crank pulley ?
this happens ALL the time on all honda engines. the crank pulley getting wallowed out is a direct result of the bolt coming loose and eventually crank pulley falling off. ive had this happen to myself as well as about 80% of other honda owners.
ALWAYS locktite the crank pulley bolt and torque it good.
BTW, you WILL need a new pulley no matter what anyone says!!

yes I know I AM replacing the pulley. but why should I have to locktite a bolt I have never taken off? the first time it came off of the car EVER was a week and a half ago when it backed itself out, and im sure the pulley was already screwed by thenmike93hatch;222310 wrote:this happens ALL the time on all honda engines. the crank pulley getting wallowed out is a direct result of the bolt coming loose and eventually crank pulley falling off. ive had this happen to myself as well as about 80% of other honda owners.

because the crank pulley bolt vibrates loose....no matter how tight you get it. it just happens. you can loctite it when you get the car or wait until it falls off and then loctite.. either way it needs loctite.99PreludeSh;222312 wrote:yes I know I AM replacing the pulley. but why should I have to locktite a bolt I have never taken off? the first time it came off of the car EVER was a week and a half ago when it backed itself out, and im sure the pulley was already screwed by then

this would never happen if you replaced your timing belt lol. ive never ONCE had and issue with a car coming back for a loose crank pulley after doing a t-belt. if this was such an issue, im pretty sure honda would recommend locktite. i have never ONCE seen a tech put locktite on any crank bolt. your t-belt is supposed to be done every 105k, i would just be thankful the pulley just fell off at this point.

What does my timing belt have to do with my crank pulley? I know quite a few people who havent replaced their timing belt and running good with 200k+ miles on it and their crank pulley hasn't fallen off. lolbildo16;222404 wrote:this would never happen if you replaced your timing belt lol. ive never ONCE had and issue with a car coming back for a loose crank pulley after doing a t-belt. if this was such an issue, im pretty sure honda would recommend locktite. i have never ONCE seen a tech put locktite on any crank bolt. your t-belt is supposed to be done every 105k, i would just be thankful the pulley just fell off at this point.

uhhhhh, everything. if what mike states is true, crank pulley bolt loosening over time, then it would have been re-torqued when your timing belt was done. when you dont maintain your vehicle, they break.99PreludeSh;222407 wrote:What does my timing belt have to do with my crank pulley?
