Intake OR NOT?

Post by 97 Honda »

I drive a 97 honda civic. I have been debating a long time on rather i should put an intake on the car or not. I dont care about the performence aspect of it more concerned on hydrolocking the car or doing other damage to it by putting the intake on the car. What about the maf if i put the intake on the car what should i do with the maf the intake i have has no place for the maf just the oil return line should i drill a hole for it or what?? Any help would be greatly appracted. Thanks

your car doesn't have a maf.

its the iat(intake air temp) that is in the intake pipe. if the intake you buy doesn't have a spot for it, you could find a rubber grommet at a parts store and drill a hole in the new intake for the iat sensor.

the oil return line your thinking of is apart of the pcv system. it sucks out oil vapor and blow-by from the engine. it then recirculates it into the combustion process to burn it off.

I would agree that going with a name brand intake would probably be a waste of money for your application.

Best way would be to make some piping and have it go towards behind the passenger side headlight. Slap a good filter on it and call it a day. Maybe paint it if you want.

If you don't have a method to fab up the pipe, then just grab one off ebay or somewhere cheap and don't use the supplied filter (unless for some reason it happens to be a good one). A decent intake CAN be had fairly cheap, you just have to look.
