B16A2 Vs B16A

Post by 2ksi »

I have a b16a2 and most of the parts that i look at online for headers and really any engine upgrade i look for just says its for a b16a and not a b16a2. does that mean that the b16a parts can be used on the b16a2? What is the difference between the two?

Yeah, you can use them. B16A is just one of the jdm versions of the engine, but theyre gonna use the same parts.

alright, cool cool. so no real big differences between them though? does the 2 in b16a"2" play a role in differences or is that just there to classify it being as a newer model of the engine?

there isn't any difference between the two besides the fact that the b16a was used in JDM models whereas b16a2 was used in USDM and EDM models

Amazing what a slight bump in compression on the B16A does over the shit bomb USDM one.

....JDM B16A - 170 hp ... 116 ft/lbs ... compression 10.4:1
USDM B16A2 - 160 hp ... 111 ft/lbs ... compression 10.2:1

I know it doesn't seem like much, but people struggle enough already as it is just to gain as little hp out of these engines as it is already.

It is only 10hp and 5 ft/lbs, but some people pay a good $300, if not more, in bolt on parts just to gain that.
