Hey guys,
I'm planning on replacing the engine in a '97 Civic EX and someone recommended I post here. I was thinking of ordering the engine from TigerJapanese Auto Parts unless someone had a less expensive recommendation. I'm also looking for some help in swapping the engines since I've never done anything this complex before. Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Tom

I want to replace it because it was run with too little oil and ruined the engine.
According to CARFAX, it has:
1.6L L4 PFI 16V
That's a VTEC right? I'm getting different model numbers from engine dealers. The guy at Tiger Japanese says it is: D15B
But the guy at H Motors Online says it is: D16Y8
Does anyone know? I couldn't see the model number.
Thanks!

Haha, thanks, Mike. I'll get the VTEC D15B.
Is there a place here in St. Louis you recommend? Or another online company?
I checked with the Better Business Bureau for Tiger Japanese and they had a grade of "F" due to all the unresolved complaints. I'm hesitant to spend that kind of money on a company I don't know.
Thanks again.

Well considering that Tiger told you the engine for your EX is a D15B and it isn't... Think about it.
I'm still a neighborhood ASSHOLE!

they like to spin rod bearings at the snap of your fingers. i can almost get them to do it on demand now LOL... d16y8 crank has one unchamfered oil hole per journal whereas all other d-series have two chamfered oil holes.bemberg2;211459 wrote:i've heard that too, why is the d16y8 so shitty? what about the y7 though? worse?
