built d15z1/z6 for boost

Post by onecam12sec »

well i don't know if this has been done before, i'm talkin about a built d15z1. to start off, i have a 1992 civic vx with almost 88k on it, i was goin to swap in a b16a2 in it, but i feel like i have to break 11's with a single cam before i go into bigger things. well anyways i found out Crower can make me a set of aftermarket rods for my motor for 400 bucks and luis, the tech who helped me said these rods should be good enough for a 250whp daily driver. has anyone around here ever messed wit this engine. this is what i have in mind

1992 vx wit factory stamp block d15z1

crower rods
forged pistons(8:8-9:2)
z6 head built
crower turbo-cam

any ideas. i'm shooting for 19-20psi high boost, 13-15psi dd

i dont think the d15z1 is a good choice for 15 to 20 psi. should just go with a built z6

that's too common of a built. anyhow i got my mind pretty much set on buildin the z1 block. it's gonna be hard specially when i'm making minimum wage. but i'm set on having the only 12 sec dd factory stamp 92 vx d15z1 in the midwest.

why not use the d16z6 internals (crank, rods, pistons) in the d15z1 block then essentially you would have a z6. if you keep the d15 crank and rods with a z6 head you will pretty much have a d15b. what you are trying to do doesnt make sense to me you could just go out and buy a z6 sand off the d16z6 stamp and stamp d15z1 on it, it would be the same thing.

then again i dont know if there are any differences between the z6 and z1 blocks they are both 75mm bore other than that the z1 could have thinner cylinder liners...idk

If you have money pouring out of your pocket for custom rods and other nonsense, then go for it.

built z6 comes dime a dozen. i was once told d15b7 was not a good choice for 18psi. and my d15b7 integra made 332whp@19psi. hence that was a jg dynamic d15b7.

why a turbo d15b7 in an integra? why a d-series in an integra?!!
