oil problem

Post by J.M.P »

Hi, Im having an oil problem. Its not leaking or anything like that. Here is what is going on.

I was driving the car today, everything was ok, I know it was getting a little low on oil, so I figured I would put some in, until I get the oil changed. When I was done, and went to start, it started up fine, but when I went to drive, it started sputtering like it was only on 2 cyclnders or something, and then started smoking, and the smoking only got worse, like billowing out.

The only thing that I can determine is that I overflowed and put to much oil in, but Im not complete sure. IF any one can help, and give me some advice on what to do here, that would be great, thanks

so, you *think* you might have too much oil in it? how much did you put in? did you check the dipstick?

I did check the oil, and it read below the mark, and after, it was reading high on the dipstick.

Check the oil, if there is to much drain some. To much oil can cause just as bad problems as not enough.

that is what I figured, If there is to much, that would happen, but I dont know enough about it to just go on and directly think that.

Ok, I changed the oil, filter, checked the plugs, everything is fine now, clean drained and such. I started it up, still smoked, not as bad now, but still smoked. my question now is.

Is it just working its self out now, for the new, or is there something major wrong now?

do a compression check and a leak down and report back
