Cooling Fan????

Post by gsrauto98 »

I can not figure out why my fan is not coming on. The fan itself works because i jumped it to the battery and it flipped on. Its not a fuse or relay and i just replaced the temp control sending unit? So if anybody has any ideas please let me know. All help is appreciated.

does your lower radiator hose get hot? might be a thermostat.

There is a fan thermo switch on the thermostat housing. Once this switch "triggers" it connects and sends ground to your fan relay, switching the relay over to give power to the fan.

There is a green wire and a black wire from the switch.....connect those 2 wires (without unplugging anything...and with the ignition on). If the fan kicks on...then your thermo switch is bad. If it doesn't kick on, you either have a bad wire or bad relay somewhere.

Did you run a ground to that green wire coming off the switch?

I would try that with the ignition on. Just touch wire to a razorblade (ground the other side of the wire) and push the blade into the green wire. That switch is the ONLY thing that turns the fan on/off.
