Occasional Overheating

Post by gsrauto98 »

Occasionally when I drive my car for a while and I come to an idle at like a long stop light or through a drive through i will tend to get pretty hot. Im not sure if it is hitting air pockets or what. The motor is a b18c1. Any help is appreciated.

Is it full on coolant? Do your fans work? Could also be air pockets.

Check for Coolant leaks?
Fan operation?
Thermostat opening- possibly stuck closed?

Probaly not air pockets unless there is a leak present which air would be introduced to the cooling system.

There is no leaks as of i can tell. And if i sit there and rev it up to like 2000rpms it will slowly go down. And it is full on coolant.

Thats most likely your thermostat. Cheap and easy fix.

I am thinking they arent because i dont hear it unless it is super quiet. So is it the fan or a relay or switch??? I just went and got some food and the temp gauge started slowly creeping up as i was sitting in the drive through.
