new rod and crank problems
i bought an eagle rod and crank set for my b16. customer service called and asked if i wanted to buy bearings to match to my rods and crank. so i got them. for some reason when i assemble my rods on the crank the third cylinder rod will not turn. i need to know, if i cant exchange them, if i can get it fixed and where.

why did u waste money on a crank that is known to break under load?? why didnt you stick with the oem crank that has no known failure issues???
further more, is this something that eagle picked your bearings for you or what?

Just becasuse they "sent" you bearings doesnt mean that they clearance out the same. Just asking this questions proves that you should NOT be building and engine at all and pay someone to do it.dwturbosi;150077 wrote:i bought an eagle rod and crank set for my b16. customer service called and asked if i wanted to buy bearings to match to my rods and crank. so i got them. for some reason when i assemble my rods on the crank the third cylinder rod will not turn. i need to know, if i cant exchange them, if i can get it fixed and where.
Google/ Wikipedia/ learn.com or whatever : Plastigage gauge and Bearing oil clerancences. Order the right size bearings and retry.

I'd call and go through part #'s with them to make sure the Rods/Bearings/Crank are compliant with oem standards, could be you got oversized bearings sent to ya with oem spec'd crank and rods.
Also this would be a failure at life thing but you did assemble with some sorta lube correct? if you put it together dry then that could be one problem, also another is if you over torqued everything or didn't follow the oem path of torqueing it all down.

wow, i have never seen so much failure in one thread before.
why does any ever buy a eagle crank over oem???? the only reason i can see if if they wanted some stupid stroker. but as far as power goes, the oem forged crank WILL handle WHATEVER you can possibly throw at it. honda did do alot of things right. on the other hand the eagle crank has been proven not so successfull. not only that they are also very notorious for being very out of balance and just not consistant at all. nothing is going to top hondas machining.
LOL, how are you going to just have someone send you bearings and just put them on without checking the clearances. you do know that the clearances have to be absolutely perfect down to thousandths of an inch. if not done right then you will immediatly have a spun rod bearing and knocking, or no oil pressure or in youre case so tight the rod wont even move. all in which are going to ruin your new expensive pos downgraded crank. the only way to get your rod bearing clearances truly correct and done right so it will be reliable and last a long time to come is to measure and use honda bearings as they have a ton of different sizes unlike any other rod bearing manufacturer.
yay i got myself a eagle crank im so badass now.... no youre a fucking dumbass for wasting money on something that is actually a downgrade. nothing is better than a oem honda crank, bud.

i GUARANTEE you will never see a oem honda forged crank do this.

x10000000, sell that to someone else and use your stock crank with stock bearings, that is one thing honda did very well.

well i wont be using the crank , thanks for the heads up. I used plastigauge and plenty of assembly lube. i also torqued everything down to oem specs. I also tried to install the rods on my oem crank every rod but the third cylinder rod fit and will spin like they should. where is the best shop to fix my shit.
