Custom or SS AC Lines? ?

Post by Digital Sol »

Is it possible to run some type of SS braided line for the AC line? Ac line is getting in the way, dosnt look like the type of line that will bend much before snapping and i wont be able to bend it enough anyways. Its rubbing on the header/radiator'. Aftermarket header+1/2 core radiator isnt too friendly on the ac line. I was thinking easiest solution if possible would be to run a SS braided line straight down and under the radiator, then come straight up to the other side of the radiator'.

Any suggetion's?

And no, dont suggest ditching AC, not gonna happen'

Any information on type of line and/or fittings ill need would be much appreciated....i have the tendancy to order the wrong fittings'.

only other thing i can think of is wrapping the shit out of the ac line where it hits the header with the AC heat wrap', and maybe even doing some header wrap around the header where the line makes contact with it'

Its a high pressure line. I would recommend still using copper, aluminum lines I have not seen anything else used on an ac application including cars to industrial equipment. Usually Hvac technicians end up replacing their hoses on their gauge manifolds 2 times a year. Multi-layer rubber A/C hoses have refrigerant loss caused by permeation. This can be compensated by
refilling the A/C system at regular service intervals. But still not recommended.
Just buy some Aluminum or copper lines the same diameter of the pre-existing hose and have it bent the direction you want and have the same place match your fittings should be barb ferrule fittings. Or you can go here http://www.gates.com/brochure.cfm?broch ... on_id=6197

You'll also have to put the schreader fitting in the line so you can evacuate/charge the system periodically. Why does your a/c rub on the header though? Is it custom? Something else seems wrong here. bent part maybe?

dosnt fit right because aftermarket header+radiator+not the stock motor etc'

kinda need to find a self solution, i need to finish a few things up and get it running and then the car has to go straight to safety inspection so i can get new plates so i really need to have everything squared away on it'

ballwin cops are pita, cant make it 50ft without being pulled over

the only line that is rubbing is the line that goes right to the right side of the radiator and then goes straight down and under/around the radiator to the left side of the engine bay, it cant go behind the radiator without rubbing on the header, cant go under because theres not enough line, either way it"ll be rubbing in between the radiator/header
