Carbon exiting exhaust...running rich??
ok so i said the wrong thing.... its not a coating its a liner. i corrected myself by quotin the wiki thing b/c its not a coating. Thats not the point, i'm wondering y there is carbon constatnly coming out of my exhaust. i know u can't diagnose a car without seeing or hearing it...fine. maybe i should ask this way... can u give me a general explaniation as 2 why a car would have carbon build up in an exhaust system? is it due to the car running rich? because it burns so much oil, could it be caused by excessive oil sitting in the system?

The piston rings are most likey bad as explained in your Wikipedia quote. The carbon is most likey from the oil you're burning. You answered your own question a few posts ago...
