Carbon exiting exhaust...running rich??
My car spits carbon out of the exhaust on a regular! I've tuned it up and have had a fuel induction service, but it still does it. I've checked a couple sites and they've suggested running too rich. I'm completely lost on this one. any suggestions???

nope, no lights. car has its moments, it seems like when its chilly outside the car runs out fine, 4 the most part.. seems like when i'm in second gear and accelerating, there is a hesitation around 25-35k. and again in third on acceleration. I know the cylinder walls are coated with something at the factory, and once the coating wears off it burns oil!! very true, i burn quite a bit. doesn't leak coolant, or anything else 4 that matter. it just has a hesitation. figure there is a compression lose due to the coating. luckily i have the b20 engine sittin in the garage!! hope this helps a lil

If you suspect compression issues, you can get an Autozone loaner compression tester for free and test in minutes. At least it would help point or rule out a possibility.

this is what i mean by coating... from wikipedia..."The B21A1 was basically a re-worked B20A5 with an increase in bore to 83 mm (3.3 in). The external block dimensions had to stay identical (although there was increased external strengthening and webbing on the B21) to the B20A5 block so Honda called upon Saffil to create a thin but strong cylinder liner called FRM (fiber reinforced metal) which basically consisted of a carbon fiber matrix, aluminum alloy, and aluminum oxide to make a very strong cylinder sleeve. The sleeve is so strong, in fact, that it wears out the piston rings causing low compression numbers, severe smoking, and high oil useage. It is possible, many times, to merely replace the worn rings and revive the motor's former output. Many machine shops will not attempt to re-hone or re-bore the FRM sleeves, concerned that the ultra-hard sleeves will damage their machining tools." i'm wondering if this could be a cause of all the carbon coming out of my exhaust. is it due 2 excessive oil burning or is it due to coolant blowing by somewhere? I'm not a mechanic so if it sounds like i'm jumping subjects....sorry!! but, when SPoole asked me if it ran good i gave him the low down (hense the oil/coolant). the smoke is whiteish and smells of oil, which is typical 4 this car, is that wat is collecting in my exhaust and blowing out when i start it?

did you not read what you just quoted from wiki? here i'll point out the potential sentences because you obviously dont even see it.....
quoted from above...
so like mike said, what coating are you talking about? The sleeve is so strong, in fact, that it wears out the piston rings causing low compression numbers, severe smoking, and high oil useage. It is possible, many times, to merely replace the worn rings and revive the motor's former output.
