So my integra has been having trouble starting slowly keeps getting worse.
Something seems to be killing my battery, it may have been my stereo but not 100% sure.
Well i tried charging my battery today and it didn't seem to want to start. Tried to pop start it and still nothing....
I then tried jumping it which usually works, and no luck.
I know it has been slowly getting worse i hold my ignition down and my starts like 15 seconds later.
also i know i changed my distributor about 4 months ago due to a bad coil. so Dunno if that went bad again...
What could this be maybe my alternator is bad?
can a 95ls alternator interchangeable with a 00 gsr alternator?
integra wont start...

Could be a lot of things. Check parasitic drain with a DMM and the car off. The alternator isnt interchangeable. You would need one from a 96+ GSR/RIshbOO;144811 wrote:So my integra has been having trouble starting slowly keeps getting worse.

Does it crank? Check for spark? etc?

id be checking the coil again. then id make sure its the alternator once u get it started. there are ways to do this. if u jsut put a new battery in and it didnt start then u have another problem, not the alternator. check the dizzy again son! then get back to us

once you get it to fire, put your DVOM on the battery cables and see how many volts it reads while running, it should read 13-14 volts if your alt. is good. it doesnt sound like the case though bad alt.+good battery=a car that still starts. did you get an autozone coil?

i got a distributor king distributor.... its more cost effective just to buy the damn distributor. i think autozone wanted like 100 one time for a coil.... i do have other distributors, well 1 anyway, its from an obd1 LS, so i dont think it would fit on my car unless I had the rywire or passwordjdm obd1 to obd2 conversion harness.
and the battery was new, well it kept getting drained for some reason, or so i think it keeps going dead. it wont even jump start, or charge i dont think.
Me and whitney were trying to figure it out, she says her crx would never start or it wouldnt jump start and she also had trouble popping it like myself and she says all her problems went away after she changed her alt.
Here are my plan of actions due to bills comment about having a good battery, and it should still start even if the alt is bad correct?
Im gonna bring this battery back and tell them to give me a new one. its an Optima yellow top... expensive..
if that doesnt work, im going to try jumping it it one last time, if it starts of course im gonna check the voltage.
if it doesnt start im going to try my old distributor that flips a cel due to bad sensor, but it should def still start my car, never had starting probs with it.
if that doesnt work rofl then i gotta buy a conversion harness for another distributor, we will see.
I have a broken leg so may take me a few days... ill let ya know.

even if the alternator is bad....but the battery is good and fully charged...the car will start.
Hell you could take the alternator off and the car would still start and run off the battery. Your problem is elsewhere. not the alternator

thanks jamey thats what i was figuring. whitney has my mind elsewhere :bouncy: i guess. rofl. but i've had distributor problems before and this is exactly what it did last time. but this time it slowly got worse as my battery kept losing charge as well... oh yeah and i unhooked my stereo for that reason. i dunno 900 rms was fine in the gsrg3integragsr;145085 wrote:even if the alternator is bad....but the battery is good and fully charged...the car will start.

another note.... holding gown igniton until starter finally kicks in 15 seconds later.(what it used to do, when it did start, now nothing) im guessing I should def check the connections on the starter then too. and check to see if starter is bad or what.
but final say for this morning, check distributor and coil, and starter, and replace that battery should have a warranty.
thanks for clearing stuff up jamey and bill and everyone. feel free to post if any other ideas come to mind. rick i know your reading... haha j/p dude
